At one time or another, most pageant girls have used the phrase "more than a crown"... But for Miranda Harrison - "more than a crown" doesn't begin to describe the opportunity she was given as Miss West Virginia, 2013. From the "Herald-Dispatch.com"...
"Miranda Harrison recalled making a fast friend in 2010 with Abbie Waters, an 8-year-old girl, who was undergoing treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the connective tissues in Richmond.
"A friend and I helped out at a local clinic, and that's where I met Abby," said Harrison. "We got closer during her treatment, and I would stay with her for days at a time. Two days after her ninth birthday she passed away holding my hand.
"That is the kind of thing that alters your life forever. It made me see that I was part of something bigger."
The next time you hear yourself uttering the phrase, "more than a crown"... We hope you remember Abby. Miranda has lots of photos of Abby on her twitter feed... follow her at @RealMissWV2013 to see more of her journey this year.
And while you're there - you'll see Miranda has a heart of gold... but Junkies gotta say... to us, Miranda looks better today than she did competing at Miss America! Not that she wasn't lovely in Atlantic City - but we LOVE her new haircut and obviously, she's continued working out! Miranda - Just wanted to let you know your efforts have not gone unnoticed - you look AMAZING! :)
Now - when it comes to Miss WV 2014, the 1st, 3rd and 4th runner up's from last year are all back - PLUS a few others who might 'shake up the party'...
